We lost a litter. Cinders had her kits last night and I found them this morning, dead. I'm not one of those people who think animals have no feelings. Cinders seems so sad. We'll re-breed her, of course, but this is a set-back. Sapphire's litter is doing well. I think the cold hit suddenly and Cinders didn't have time or straw(she eats as much straw as we put in. I was a little surprised she saved any for the bunnies!) or fur pulled out. Sapphire's, on the other hand, were old enough to have their own fur so they lived.
It's sad and frustrating about Cinders' litter, but it'll be okay. It's her second litter, and she lost two out of the first litter, so I'm sure she realizes it happens. It's just one of the drawbacks of breeding rabbits.
