I just wanted to say thank you to everybody who commented recently. Thank you so very much. Unfortunately, Blogger seems to be having a glitch in which I can't actually enter my account (once again!) I'll post the non-spam comments as soon as I'm able. I actually have to send this via email and cannot guarantee that it will arrive. I can only hope it will.
We lost another rabbit tonight, this time a doe. I was treating her for coccidia, but it turned out to be enteritis and I didn't know it. Enteritis is usually fatal once it fully sets in, although there are cases in which it can be treated. This doe had been ill with another infection recently after attending a fair. The vet gave her antibiotics, but no probiotics. Unfortunately, I didn't know enough at the time to challenge him. My ignorance may have been part of the reason for this sweet girl's death.
Phila (her name has been changed to protect her breeder, although I honestly don't know why I should) came to us after having been abused by another breeder. The breeder thought it quite acceptable to hiss at the rabbits in an aggressive manner. Of course, as rabbits are the prey of snakes, hissing is quite frightening to them. She was quite aggressive. With gentle touches and soft voices, we finally helped her realize that we wouldn't hurt her or her babies, of which she only had one litter with only two  survivors, both male. She grew to like being petted and cuddled, although not picked up.
It's difficult for me to believe she's gone. She was a Silver Fox rabbit, one of the too few does we have. Not only will we miss her personally, but also, we are trying to raise the number of Silver Fox rabbits in existence, as they are a rare breed rabbit. We are beginning to believe it's the feed we are giving. We have been using Manna Show Grow formula for all our rabbits, but lately, it seems to be of a much poorer quality. We are currently in the process of switching to another 18% feed. I am hoping that eliminates the recent health problems.

Note: I finally managed to get into my account. It turns out that the glitch is due to Blogger's new interface. I'm hoping it's soon repaired.
