A WORD OF WARNING:
This blog entry contains VERY graphic images! I will NOT blame you if you skip today's post! I wish I could.
The images you are about to see are quite graphic, and intended for mature audiences only. This is what can happen if you don't treat your rabbit's fur mites immediately. These photographs are how a severe infestation can actually look, but if you even see a bit of what looks like dandruff, please visit your veterinarian immediately! If you have a weak stomach at all, please don't look at these, you will feel ill.
The Silver Fox rabbit which had these mites is dead. He wasn't treated on time and also had another, unidentified disorder. We took him to the veterinarian, but the vet failed to diagnose his other problems. We believe it was, in the end, a vitamin deficiency that killed him.He is very much missed.

This Flemish Doe was treated on time, although the mites do keep reappearing. She seems healthy otherwise, at least for the moment.
This Flemish buck died of the same symptoms the Silver Fox buck did. We tried treating him, but it was already too late. He is also very much missed
Here's another shot of the Silver Fox buck. As you can see, the disease is quite advanced. I hope to never see anything like this again, quite honestly. I don't care if it means finding a permanent cure for fur mites, I never want to see them again!
As you can probably tell, I'm still quite emotional about the entire situation. Please don't let this happen to your rabbit! Get it to the vet BEFORE it gets this bad!
